News and HighlightsGovernor's Award Skips 2009 Cycle
The Governor's Award for Sustainable Practices will not be offered in 2009, another sacrifice due to the budget pressures facing the Department of Ecology. We are planning to resume the award in 2010, if the resources are available. The award, offered since 1991, previously skipped 1994 when Ecology underwent a major reorganization. Pollution Prevention Plans Due September 1, 2009
The electronic format for pollution prevention plans is available to help planners prepare their reports for calendar year 2008. The form (in Microsoft Word) combines plan and annual progress report information into one package, simplifies reporting, and provides a process-oriented, 5-year view of pollution prevention data, allowing for better analysis. Cleaner Production Challenge
The Toolkit includes strategy development ideas, an opportunity list, vendor links, and other tools to help facilities gain better process control, reduce water use, produce less waste, and improve compliance.
